Rams WR Van Jefferson was absent from training camp practice on Saturday for the Rams and many fans and members of the media were wondering why. After missing practice on Saturday, head coach Sean McVay revealed that Jefferson is dealing with a knee injury that will require him to visit a specialist on Monday.
Jefferson played through a knee issue in the second half of 2021 and during the off-season, he underwent what was described as a minor knee procedure. The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue mentioned that Sean McVay wasn’t sure if Jefferson’s current knee troubles are related to the same knee the procedure was performed on.
The Rams were expecting Jefferson to be the #3 WR behind Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. Jefferson had an impressive 2021 serving as the Rams’ second receiver and a deep threat, hauling in 50 receptions for 802 yards and six touchdowns on a team-best 16 yards per reception.
With Odell Beckham Jr. still recovering from a torn ACL, and remaining unsigned, the Rams were expecting to enter the upcoming season with Jefferson as their No. 3 wideout.
